2026's SOS will be the 37th consecutive year that NASHIA has hosted the conference.
SOS continues to bring state leaders together, alongside brain injury advocacy organizations, partners, researchers, and providers.
This year’s conference will highlight work in the Criminal Legal System (CLS), Clinical Practices (CP), Behavioral Health (BH), and Medicaid/Long-Term Services & Supports as content tracks, as well as bring content applicable to the whole brain injury community.

Format
NASHIA's 2026 State of the States in Brain Injury Conference is in-person in Little Rock, Arkansas! In addition to the same great brain injury content you know and love, this year’s event will showcase 7 plenary sessions, 6 sets of concurrent sessions, and 4 engaging content tracks. Tracks in the Criminal Legal System (CLS) and Clinical Practices (CP) will weave throughout the entire conference, while a Behavioral Health track kicks off the week and a Medicaid/Long-Term Services & Supports track rounds off the latter half. The conference will also provide an opportunity to participant in “Jail School,” an immersive CLS experience with an interactive site visit to a local detention facility.

Payment and Cancellation Policy
REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
SOS attendees should register by Sunday, June 28, 2026, and submit payment or a purchase order prior to the conference. A $50 late fee is included in ticket price for all registrations after Sunday, June 28, 2026.
SEND A SUBSTITUTE:
Know someone who is interested in attending in your place? A $50 administrative fee enables you to transfer your registration to another person simply by emailing info@nashia.org. Substitutions may be made up until the registration deadline of Sunday, June 28, 2026. Payment for substitutions must be made at the time of processing.
REQUEST A REFUND:
We are happy to accommodate a refund for your registration fee if you are unable to find a substitute prior to the deadline. Cancellations must be made in writing by emailing info@nashia.org. Cancellations received on or before Sunday, June 28, 2026, will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. Unfortunately, no refunds will be given for cancellations received after Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Overview of the Criminal Legal System & TBI in Arkansas: A NASHIA SOS Immersive Experience
Join leading Central Arkansas law enforcement professionals for a candid, step-by-step overview of the justice process from intake through detention at both county and city levels. This concurrent session is open to all conference attendees and provides foundational context on the criminal legal system and its intersections with traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Space is limited to the first 45 participants. There is no additional cost to participate, and transportation will be provided for the jail tour.
How Can I Go to the Immersive Experience, Offered During the 2026 SOS Conference?
1. Register for the 2026 SOS Conference. With more than 75 presenters, 37 sessions, 5 topic tracks, and numerous opportunities for networking, your attendance is the perfect investment in your professional development.
2. Sign up for Part 2 using the form below. Only those registered for the conference AND in the first 45 attendees to sign up for Part 2 will make the trip.
If you’ve completed the above steps you’re almost there!
3. Attend “CLS Track - Jail School: Overview of the Criminal Legal System & TBI in Arkansas” for Part 1 of this experience, scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2:45-3:45p.
4. Join the tour on the afternoon of Thursday, September 3rd! This is a first-to-apply, first- to-go experience, and if you’re not registered, we will have to give your spot to the next person who is. Full details will be provided to participants who meet all of the above criteria. If we can answer any questions please let us know.
Serving Our Surroundings (S.O.S.): The 2026 NASHIA SOS Service Project
Every year, NASHIA gives back to our host city through the Serving Our Surroundings (S.O.S.) project. A project is chosen that has a strong intersectionality with brain injury. Those in the criminal legal system are disproportionally affected by brain injury. Thus, for 2026, we are stepping up to help individuals in the Pulaski Co. Detention Center Re-entry Program bridge the food-insecurity gap as they transition back into the community. Working with the City Center Food Pantry in Little Rock, AR, we are making it happen!
How to participate:
Donate: Find your region on the map. Send a donation through one of the regional links. Food banks buy the items for pennies on the dollar, so cash is king!
Pack: Join us at SOS room in Little Rock to sort and pack the meal bags.

Conference Content Tracks
Full Conference Tracks
SOS 2026 will feature two tracks of content dedicated to the Criminal Legal System and Brain Injury and Clinical Practices that will weave throughout the entire conference. Existing resources and tools will be shared. Presenters representing all aspects of the system will discuss challenges and areas for intervention of best practice approaches for brain injury. Examples of training, screening, and collaboration will be reviewed, and various criminal legal and clinical practice providers will be represented in presentations. States and partners can learn from successful models and take home examples to apply to their work.
Split Conference Tracks
SOS 2026 will begin with a content track focused on Behavioral Health, and conclude with a content track focused on Long-Term Services & Supports. National Subject Matter Experts will discuss existing services and potential areas for supports that states can explore, as well as provide guidance on procedures and processes. Resources for technical assistance and support will be identified.
States and partners will share current practices and supports, and plan for future expansion of the types and extent of services as well as additional funding sources and potential providers.
All content tracks are intended for brain injury programs AND their partners within the CLS, CP, BH, and LTSS fields to learn together. Please spread the word to your counterparts in the state working within these areas!
