Service Delivery
In Utah, individuals of all ages with TBI may contact the Brain Injury Association of Utah or the Department of Human Services, Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) for available services. Individuals with TBI who are Medicaid eligible and who are at least 18 years of age may be eligible for services covered by the TBI Home and Community-Based Medicaid Waiver. DSPD administers the waiver for the State.
Services provided may include support coordination, chore services, community living supports, companion services, personal emergency response, respite, supported employment, and transportation. Children receive services through the MR/DD waiver. The Division may also offer family assistance and support to enable people with TBI to remain and be supported in their family homes. Family Supports are intended to assist both the family member with a disability and the rest of the family to live as much like other families as possible-with the intent of preventing or delaying unwanted out of home placement.
