Service Delivery

In Nevada individuals with TBI contact the Nevada Community Enrichment Program (NCEP), a private provider, or any other provider, that would determine eligibility for services and develop an individual plan of care. The State legislature appropriates State funding to the Department of Human Services, Office of Disability Services for purposes of funding individuals served by NCEP that have no other financial resources.

Individuals with TBI who are Medicaid eligible may receive rehabilitation services that are medically prescribed to improve or restore functions. The Medicaid rehabilitation program provides coverage for community-based comprehensive medical rehabilitation programs for eligible recipients under the rehabilitative services option of the Medicaid State Plan. Services provided are time-limited and include Comprehensive Day Treatment programs, Residential Rehabilitation Programs, and Community Re-integration services.

HRSA-Funded Projects

The Department of Human Services received a HRSA Planning Grant in 1998-1999 to conduct a statewide Needs and Resources Assessment. An additional one- year Planning Grant was awarded in 2005. Nevada is using the grant to:

  • Establish a fully staffed Statewide TBI Advisory Committee which represents the broad array of TBI interest including individuals with TBI, families and service providers.
  • Achieve a functioning and cohesive advisory committee that can direct State policy makers and TBI providers in matters related to TBI.
  • Produce an updated Needs and Resources Assessment that accurately reflects the state of TBI services in Nevada and identifies strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats related to TBI services.
  • Construct a TBI State Action Plan that is relevant to the needs of individuals with TBI and their families, and will capitalize on the resources and opportunities that exist in Nevada.
  • Strengthen the cooperative relationships between the Office of Disability and public and private stakeholders and assure the TBI State Action Plan is developed.
