HRSA-Funded Projects

Montana received a Planning Grant in 2001 and an Implementation Grant beginning in 2003. The focus of the Implementation Grant is threefold: 1) Develop educational materials for families and individuals which would be made available at intervals depending upon the individuals status in the continuum of care; 2) Do outreach to our Indian Nations by developing culturally sensitive materials and enlisting input from them for all phases of the grant; and 3) Provide all individuals with TBI and their families with access to a system of coordinated services and resources. In conjunction with the Montana Center on Disabilities, the Lead Agency sponsors an annual Native American TBI Conference.

Promising Practices

The State's ability to piggy-back on an existing waiver is cost effective. Post-acute rehab services are exceptional.
