Latest Action Alert

The Institute of Medicine has released its Evaluating the HRSA Traumatic Brain Injury Program report. You may also view the four page Report Brief (PDF 1056k). Urge HRSA and Congress to make the Federal TBI Program a priority. Here are a few excerpts:

“…the federal TBI program—modest in expenditures, large in purpose and practical in its goals—…” (xv)

“The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) TBI Program…is a modest federal program with broad ambitions.” (p. 1)

“The committee is impressed with what has been done and rates the HRSA TBI Program overall a success.” (p. 14)

“The Program was designed… to initiate the creation of sustainable infrastructure and increased capacity…” (p. 1)

“…the HRSA’s TBI State Grants Program has produced demonstrable, beneficial change in organizational infrastructure and increased visibility of TBI—essential conditions from improving TBI service systems.” (p. 4)

“There is considerable value in providing small scale federal funding to catalyze state action.” (p. 14)

“The states are now at a critical stage and will need continued [sic] federal support if they are to build an effective, durable service system for meeting the needs of individuals with TBI and their families.” (p. 15)

“The HRSA TBI Program should be a priority for HRSA.” (p. 15)
