Greetings NASHIA & BIAA Members:
The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) and the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) have entered a cooperative agreement to ensure the smooth transition of BIAA's staff leadership, work collaboratively on Traumatic Brain Injury Act appropriations and reauthorization, and pursue other mutual goals.
Effective August 1, 2004, Susan H. Connors will serve as the chief staff professional for both organizations. The arrangement will be in place for six months or until BIAA appoints a new President and CEO. Ms. Connors will maintain her position as NASHIA's Executive Director, overseeing all programs and staff and assisting the Board and volunteers in their work. As BIAA's Interim President and CEO, Ms. Connors will also manage BIAA's grants and contracts, supervise staff, and assist BIAA's Board of Directors in supporting affiliates and maintaining donor relationships.
The governing boards of both organizations enthusiastically approved the agreement noting that it maximizes the resources of both associations, ensures a united voice in Federal public policy work, and fosters opportunities for additional collaboration in the future. Questions concerning the agreement may be directed to Susan Connors at 301-656-3500 (ext 25) or by email at shconnors@nashia.org.
